William Emerson Stratton

February 11, 1943 — August 8, 2019

William Emerson Stratton, III “Bill”, 76, of Lexington passed away August 8, 2019 at Meyer Care Center, Higginsville. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm with the Rosary beginning at 5:30 pm at the Walker Nadler Fuller Funeral Home, Lexington. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in Lexington Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Memories and condolences may be left at www.ledfordfamilyfh.com.



Bill was born February 11, 1943 in Portage, Wisconsin to William and Violet (Males) Stratton. He married Virgie Brooks on December 14, 1979 in Lexington. Bill started his career with the Mattingly Brothers Stores and then went on to work over 30 years for several beer distribution companies and retired from Pepsi. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Lexington Investment Club, the Knights of Columbus, the Masonic Lodge #149 and was a Shriner’s Ambassador. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.



Survivors include, his wife Virgie of Higginsville, daughter Amy Woods and husband Mike of Lexington; granddaughters, Loren Woods of Springfield and Bethany Woods of Lexington; sisters, Sherry Kilpatrick and husband Mike of Higginsville and Jan Beck and husband Tom of Lexington; sister in law, Janet Stratton of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Richard Allen Stratton in infancy and Charles Michael “Mick” Stratton.
