Odessa, Missouri

William “Rick” Fredrick Skivers, Jr., 68 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024, at home.

 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 20109 MO-Bus 13, Higginsville, MO, 64037.  Memorials are suggested to Friends of the Friendless in Lexington, MO.  Memories of Rick and condolences for his family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our Facebook Page.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524.  

 

Rick was born on January 27, 1956, in Kansas City, MO to William F. Skivers, Sr. and Barbara L. (Lang) Skivers.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.   While serving in the Marines Rick received the Good Conduct Medal.  Rick was a very talented man with excellent autobody skills.  He worked at various autobody shops in the area throughout his life.   Rick enjoyed tinkering with cars, motorcycles, and anything that had a motor.  He enjoyed traveling and had a love for music.  Rick was an avid and talented drummer; throughout his life he played in many bands.  He was a very kindhearted man and always had a soft spot for children and animals.   Rick will be greatly missed by all who had the honor to know him.  

 

Rick is survived by his fiancé, Julia Roberta Watton of Odessa, MO; three children, Nicolle (Alex) Williams of Independence, MO, Deandra Skivers of Odessa, MO, and William “Ricky” Fredrick Skivers III (Riley) of Warrensburg, MO; five grandchildren, Tristen Wrinkle, Leland Williams, William Fredrick Skivers, IV, Coray Skivers, and Andy Skivers; one great grandson, Oliver; three sisters, Lucinda (Joe) Perez of Lexington, MO, Julie Skivers of Kansas City, MO, and Melissa (Rickey) Lamphere of Clinton, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  

 

Rick was preceded in death by his parents.
