William "Bill" Henry Cohrs Jr.

William Henry Cohrs, Jr., 93, of Lexington passed away June 26, 2021 at his home.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Trinity United Church of Christ, 1312 Franklin Ave., Lexington, MO, 64067. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11 a.m., Monday July 12, 2021 at the church. Memories of Bill and condolences for his family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com. Bill was born July 27, 1927 in Lexington to William Henry and Esther Agnes (Stalling) Cohrs. He married Helen Nadine Murphy on June 14, 1948. She preceded him in death December 25, 2002. He graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Agriculture. Bill was a Navy Veteran, owned and operated Lafayette County Abstract Company, and served as Lafayette County Treasurer from 1959 to 1966 and he was the first County Auditor for Lafayette County from 1979 to December 1993. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. Bill was very involved in the community, serving on the boards of Lexington 4 Life, the Margaret Gray Center, Sounds of the Heart and the church council. He also served as the president of the Lexington School Board. He was a member of the Lions Club, the Boy Scouts of America, Past President of The Missouri Land Title Association, life member of the American Legion and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bill was also a over 50 year member of the Mason’s Lexington Lodge 149 and the Lexington Chapter 10 Royal Arch Mason.

Survivors include his children, Connie McAllister and husband Bill of Liberty and William Corhrs, III of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Tina Hemmerich, Chad Cohrs, William Dale Cohrs, Laura Ann Sample, Kelly DeFelice and Brian McAllister; 14 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his brother, Richard Cohrs.
