Teresa Ruth Ostermeyer

Teresa Ruth Ostermeyer (McDermed), from her home in rural Odessa on June 11, 2025, surrounded by husband Larry and children, peacefully went to be with the Lord.

She was born March 11, 1957, in Denver, Colorado, the last of six children, to parents Harold and Lelia McDermed. She graduated from Blue Springs High School, Blue Springs, Missouri, in 1976. Because she held an empathetic heart and a special regard for people, in 1996, Teresa earned credentials from the Missouri League of Nursing Home Administrators, Inc. as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Restorative Assistant. Through her employment, she cared for patients and coworkers at Monterey Park Care Center, Independence, Missouri, and in later years, as Manager, at Walmart Vision Centers in Oak Grove and Richmond, Missouri. Outside of the working environment, her time was spent enjoying painting, cooking, crafting, music and dancing, particularly if Larry entertained the idea. Teresa married Larry D. Ostermeyer on August 25, 1986. Together they raised four children: Patricia, Jason, Alisha, and Adam. Teresa loved her family relationships -- gathering and sharing treasured memories.

Survivors include her husband, Larry; their children, Patricia Lewis of Grain Valley, Missouri, Jason (Carrie) Ostermeyer, Blairstown, Missouri, Alisha Hickson of Grain Valley, Missouri, and Adam (Jerry) Ostermeyer of Weatherby Lake, Missouri; five grandchildren, Zach Smith, RJ Steele, Cole and Paige Ostermeyer, and Trenton Hickson; five siblings Donna (Tom) Slifer of Cowgill, Missouri; Steve (Andrea) McDermed of Florida; Bob (Jennifer) McDermed of Harrisonville, Missouri; Tim (Debbie) McDermed of Blue Springs, Missouri and Marty (Sharon) McDermed of Odessa, Missouri.

Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO 64076, 816-633-5524. Visitation will follow from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and a funeral service immediately following. There will be no graveside services. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or Phoenix Hospice Services.
