Samuel “Sam” Lee Quick 55, of Holden, Missouri passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, January 6, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.

 

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524.  A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the funeral home. Per the family’s request, please feel free to wear your Chiefs or Mizzou attire. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to Sam Quick Memorial to go to a local animal shelter. Sam was born March 10, 1968, to Melvin and Zanie (Friedrich) Quick. Sam graduated in 1986 from Odessa High School. While he currently worked at Calton Cabinets, as a carpenter, his true passion was working with animals as a veterinarian tech for Odessa Animal Clinic. Sam was an eagle scout when he was younger. Sam was an avid Chiefs and Mizzou fan. Sam's love for the outdoors was evident in his fondness for spending time on the lake, relaxing on the beach, and casting a fishing line into the water. Sam could make friends with anyone in a room. One of Sam's greatest joys in life was spending time with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who affectionately referred to him as "Skunkcle."

 

Sam is survived by his wife of 24 loving years, Barbara Ann (Allen) Quick; his father, Melvin Quick; two children, Erika (Jordan) Springer of Blue Springs, MO, Chaz (Jilliane David) Quick of Blue Springs, MO; six grandchildren, Claire Springer, Braxton Springer, Baby Springer (2024), Lincoln Quick, Violet Quick, and Noah Buckner; one sister, Theresa Crosby; four brothers, Melvin (Rose) Quick, Ed (Jackie) Quick, Lowell Quick, Peter Quick.  Also his outlaws include; sister in laws, Vickie (Rick) Barker, Karla (Mike) Jones, and Sandy (Aaron) Pryor; two brothers-in-laws, Mike (Janet) Gamblin, and Bruce Gamblin; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

 

Sam was preceded in death by his mother Zanie Quick and his father and mother-in-law James and Carol Allen.

 

Honorary pallbearers are:  Keith Holt, Robert Shepherd, Matt Ryan, Clyde Turner, John Raybourne, Wendell Specker, and John Cooper
