Randall “Half-Pint” Reed Sammons, 69 of Odessa, Missouri formerly of Independence, MO passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, MO surrounded by family.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Church on The Rock, 1700 SW Market St, Lee’s Summit, MO, 64082.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family in care of Joyce Sammons for a charity to be chosen at a later date.  Memories of Randy and condolences for his family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our Facebook Page.  Cremation has been entrusted to the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524.

 

Randy was born on January 3, 1955, in Warrensburg, MO to Elvis and Stella (Lockard) Sammons.  On June 15, 1973, Randy was united in marriage to Joyce Lynne Good in Independence, MO.  Randy or most knew him by his cb handle as Half-Pint, started over the road trucking in 1978 and continued for 40 plus years until retiring in 2021.  He was a member of the Church on the Rock in Lee’s Summit, MO.  Randy loved the outdoors, from riding his Harley’s across the country on multiple trips to Sturgis and many other bike rallies, to taking his son and grandchildren deer hunting at Myron’s house.  He loved fishing and spending time with his family.  

 

Randy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Sammons of Odessa, MO; two children, Christopher (Teresa) Sammons of Rayville, MO and Jackie (Vinnie) Theel of Kingsville, MO; seven grandchildren, Austin Sammons, Dakota Baxter, Cory Theel, Megan Theel, Dalis Sammons, Dillon Theel, and James Theel; nine great-grandchildren, Ariya Gibbs, Brantley Baxter, Bentley Baxter, Tinleigh Baxter, Cameron Theel, Seraphina Theel, Gabriella Zakarias, Milo Theel, and Elle Sammons; a stepmother, Patty Sammons of Independence, MO; two sisters, Kathy Hessenflow of Smithville, MO and Lynda (Matt) Beshears of Smithville, MO; two brothers, Jeff Buckner of Leeton, MO and Doug Buckner of Kingsville, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  

 

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Morgan.
