Myrtle Beatrice (Davidson) Burns, 92, of Higginsville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 South Street, Lexington, Missouri, 64067. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Inurnment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lexington, Missouri. Myrtle was born on February 20, 1932, in Corder, Missouri to Roy Lee and Bertha (Neece) Davidson. She attended Arnold School of Lexington. Myrtle was united in marriage to Vancil Burns. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1994. Myrtle worked many jobs in her lifetime. Besides being a wife and mother, she worked at Wentworth Military Academy, Dunbrooke Shirt Factory, StaTite Manufacturing, WinCup Cup Factory and the Higginsville Habilitation Center. She was a volunteer at the Higginsville Senior Center. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Higginsville. Myrtle was a Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Along with spending time with family and friends, Myrtle enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading the Bible, watching movies, riding roller coasters, eating sweets and bungie jumping.
Myrtle is survived by three children, Marilyn Newman of Warrensburg, MO, Luther Burns of Merriam, KS and Stephanie (Anthony) Strickler of Wellington, MO; eight grandchildren, Jeremy (Amy) Newman, Justin (Tiffani) Burns, Sarah (Benjamin) Scharfe, Nicholas Strickler, Michael Strickler, Alexandra Strickler and Matthew Strickler; ten great-grandchildren, one sister, Beverly Corum of Lexington, MO; one sister-in-law, Shelba Davidson of Lexington, MO, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Along with both her parents and husband, Myrtle was preceded in death by one sister, Viola Ewing Mallot; two brothers, Alonzo Davidson and Carley Davidson and one grandchild, Eric Strickler.
