Mike was born February 18, 1951 to Lewis and DeEtta Hamrick in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated high school in Saint Charles, Missouri in 1969. He was very proud of the fact that he graduated on a Friday and started work at GM that following Monday. He ended up giving 50 ½ years of his life to GM. He was a dedicated worker; he loved reading and loved to learn about all things.

He was a collector of books and movies. One fun fact about Mike was he had hundreds of movies but did not own a TV. He had said he bought all the movies because people talked about them at work and he wanted to know what they were talking about and then he never got around to watching them. He had a fascination with racing pigeons.

He was a HUGE fan of Hawaiian punch and oatmeal cream pies. He loved his snacks. He enjoyed reading the latest issue of Time magazine along with many other hobby magazines. Mike spoke about memories of growing up with his brother, Larry. He spoke about adventures he had during his GM layoffs, whether it be a horse class in Maryland or being an EMT.

Mike was a private man with few words, but his smile was contagious and he appreciated anything done for him. Mike grew up Assembly of God and had accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. He loved visits from Pastor Matthew King. At the end of his life, he was well cared for by the wonderful staff at Shirkey’s Nursing and Rehab, as well as Shirkey’s hospice. He was grateful for all the effort spent on making his quality of life the best it could be. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and DeEtta Hamrick.

He is survived by his trusted friends, Stan Jones and The Shaw family (Scott, Kiley, and their daughter). He will also be fondly remembered by many wonderful neighbors and extended family.
