Maurice Lynn “Lucky” Gash age 82 passed away peacefully with family at home on May 16, 2025. Cause of death was cancer.

He was born on May 18, 1942, in Higginsville, Mo. He was the son of Fred Raymond Gash and Lila Nadine (Deatherage) Gash. He attended the Elm Grove Country School nine miles South of Higginsville, the Irving, Grandview, and Higginsville High Schools in Higginsville. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Bates City, MO. He married Nancy (Stone) Gash April 6, 1971. He completed two years of college at CMSU in Warrensburg. He worked at well drilling, construction, ice making, and vegetable harvesting while residing in California. He went on to work in various roles including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, truck driving, welding, and well drilling in Missouri. He became a land developer and merchant later in life, building and operating a convenience store, army surplus store, and rental properties.
He leaves his wife of 54 years Nancy (Stone) Gash of the home. He also leaves behind three daughters and sons-in-law, Veronica and Jimmy Beard, Gravois Mills, Cindy and John Schumaker, North Pole, Alaska, and Jill and Robert King, Odessa. Seven grandchildren, Lauren (Jason) and Reid (Malarie) Beard, Ethan (Katherine) and Ellie (Zane) Schumaker, and Abigail, Anna, and Drake King. Four great grandsons Isaac Bass, Leo Gauger, Gavin Beard, and Wyatt Beard. Three great granddaughters Norah Bass, Amelia Gauger, and Anya Schumaker. One brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Maxcine Gash, of Lake Isabella, CA., two sisters and brother-in-law, Susan and Simon Bowland, Canon City, CO., and Amy Frett Young, Carl Junction, MO, and sixteen nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Kathleen Johnson, and Lisa Stone, and two nieces, Jeanne Johnson and Lila Stone. Cremation by Royer Funeral Home Oak Grove, with private burial of ashes at a later date at the Higginsville City Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions to Phoenix Home Care and Hospice and Children's Mercy Hospital.
