Mary Katherine Gooseman

November 27, 1940 — October 7, 2020

Mary Katherine Gooseman, 79, of Lexington passed away October 7, 2020 at Meyer Care Center, Higginsville. There will be a graveside service Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 2:30 pm at Lexington Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Richmond American Legion Post 237 or the Lexington VFW Post 4052. Memories and condolences may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com. Mary K. was born November 27,1940 in Richmond to Oliver and Katherine (Knapheide) Wilcoxon. She attended Lexington schools and graduated from Lexington High School in 1958. She married Charles Marion Gooseman of Lexington on April 6, 1973. He preceded her in death. During her active life, Mary K. worked for Lafayette County Abstract Company, and later served as Deputy Recorder of Deeds of Lafayette County. She worked at radio station KLEX a secretery/bookkeeper and then worked for Chicago Title Insurance Company in Kansas City, retiring in May of 1973. Mary K. was an organist for a number of years at Christ Episcopal Church as well as substituted in many other Lexington churches. She also played for many weddings and funerals. Mary K. had many talents and interests. In the 90’s, as a woodcarver, she won many awards at Kansas City carving shows. She also compiled a photo collection of Lexington from 1900-2000.



Survivors include, one daughter, Vicki Pena (Ray, Sr.) of Phoenix, AZ; three sons, Michael White (Charlene) of Peculiar, MO, Jeffrey White (Gina) of Las Vegas, NV and Charles Gooseman (Jodi) of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Raymond Pena, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Valerie Robles (Javier) of Phoenix, AZ, Lance Pena of Phoenix, AZ, Gavin Pena of Phoenix, AZ, Jessica Hillard (Michael) of Great Falls, MT, Amanda Wilner of Las Vegas, NV, Julie Daniels of Hailey, ID, Jena White of Las Vegas, NV, Justin Cowan (Elaine) of Harrisonville, MO, Melissa Cowan of Kansas City, MO, Kristopher White (Jessica) of Mayview, MO and Matthew White (Cameron) of Overland Park, KS; and eight great grandchildren.



Mary K. was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
