Leroy Golden Barnes, 84, of Lexington, Missouri passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville, Missouri surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation will take place at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2026, at Lexington United Methodist Church, 1211 S. Business Hwy 13, Lexington, Missouri 64067. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Memories of Leroy condolences may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com. Leroy was born on October 5, 1941, to James Franklin and Lula (Pointer) Barnes, Jr. In 1959, he graduated from Mayview High School. Leroy dedicated 42 years of his life to working as a truck driver for Green Quarries, where he cultivated numerous friendships and a strong work ethic that was admired by all who knew him. A proud member of the Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge, Leroy embraced the spirit of camaraderie and service that came with being part of these organizations. In his free time, Leroy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved camping with his family, tending to his garden, and watching squirrels play in the yard. His laughter and kind spirit brightened the lives of everyone he met, and he will be profoundly missed.
Leroy is survived by his life partner of 37 years, Janice Lynn of Lexington, MO; one son, Michael (Lori) Barnes of Waverly; one grandchild, Michael Strickler; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Leroy was preceded in death by both parents, one son, Marc Barnes; six sisters, Dotta, Mary Thelma, Jimetta, Catherine, Lillian, and Sylvia; one brother, James Jr.
