Kent Dorsch

October 20, 1949 — July 19, 2023

Wellington, Missouri

Kent E. Dorsch, age 73 of Wellington, MO left this world for a better one on July 19, 2023 doing something he loved—standing on the shore of a pristine lake fishing for trout with dear friends in northern Colorado.

Kent was born October 20, 1949, to Allen and Elsie (Gausman) Dorsch of Lexington, MO.  His parents, as well as a nephew Zebadiah Dorsch preceded him in death.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda (Michel) Dorsch of the home; his twin brother Keith (Connie), Lexington; sister Carolyn Scheske, St. Louis; nephew Isaiah Dorsch (Suzanne), and great nephews Josiah and Lucas, Raymore, MO.  Kent leaves behind many other beloved family members, long-time friends and business associates.

Kent grew up with farming on his mind, pursued it with his heart, and died with his boots on.  In between he earned ribbons in 4-H and FFA and spent time in college pursuing accounting and technical drawing. He entered the US Army in 1969, serving in the First Air Cavalry in Vietnam earning a Purple Heart, then finishing his service and recuperating in Fort Hood, Texas.  Kent arrived back home in a new MGB convertible and married his high school sweetheart on July 16, 1971.

Together the couple pursued opposite-style careers, loved snow-skiing, and disco dancing in the 70’s. Later they took many trips to wine country and in recent years spent time at the original Dorsch family farm near Hermann, MO.

Kent’s joys were mentoring his business partner as family, spending time with friends and fellow farmers, taking care of the land to leave it better than he found it, and of course, hunting.   His love for John Deere green and Ford pickups is well-known.  He took the opportunity in 2003 to become an owner of the local John Deere dealership and it became Heartland Farm & Lawn (Higginsville, Richmond, Carrolton, Centerview, and Sedalia).  Kent enjoyed this venture and met many lifelong friends.  The partners later sold the business to Ag-Power, Inc.

Kent loved sunrise and sunsets and lived each day fully between each one.
