John M. (Johnny) Zaragoza, 79, of Lee’s Summit passed away June 11, 2025 at John Knox Village Care Center. A graveside service will be Monday, June 16, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Machpelah Cemetery in Lexington. Memories and condolences may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com. Johnny was born July 19, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas to Ralph and Jenny (Macias) Zaragoza. He served in the United States Navy, earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. John worked for many years for the railroad. He was married for many years to Mary Elizabeth (Bachtel) Zaragoza. She preceded him in death. John was a Catholic and a member of the American Legion.

Survivors included his long time friend and caregiver, Sharlene Koury; her children, Jennifer Hensel (Dan) and their three sons and Jessie Madden (Matt) and their four children; two brothers, Paul Zaragoza (Mary Ellen) and Tom Zaragoza (Cruz); five sisters, Irene Gutierrez (Edmund), Sandra Gonzales, Barbara Oropeza (Armondo), Debbra Zaragoza; Linda DePeralta (Adam, Jr.); two brother in laws, Mike Bachtel (Debbie) and Scott Bachtel; 12 nieces; 18 nephews; 33 great nieces; 25 great nephews; 5 great great nieces and 10 great great nephews.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two brothers, Mark Zaragoza and Arthur Zaragoza.
