It is with profound sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of John C. Marlott on July 10, 2026, at the age of 59.
John was born on October 16, 1966, in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Holden High School with the Class of 1985 before earning his bachelor's degree from the University of Central Missouri in 1990.
John lived a quiet life centered on his faith, his family, and the place he called home. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Lexington, Missouri, and more recently, St. George Church in Odessa, Missouri. His faith was deeply important to him, and in years past he considered the priesthood, spending time in several monastic communities as he discerned his vocation.
John found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved dogs, sports shooting, old movies, and collecting vintage board and card games. He cherished the family property, where he spent nearly fifty years of his life, and especially enjoyed long walks through woods and meadow.
John was a warm and caring soul. His greatest joy was simply being a loving son, brother, and uncle. His quiet presence, kind heart, and unwavering devotion to his family will be remembered always.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Marlott.
He is survived by his father, Lyle Marlott; his brothers, Wayne (Debi), Scott (Bill), Matthew, and Andrew (Sarah); his nieces and nephews, Lilly, Jordan, Austin, Samantha, and Justice; and his beloved dog, Clifford.
John, you left us too soon. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in knowing that you are now with Mom and resting in peace. May God hold you in His loving embrace. You are loved, you are missed, and you will never be forgotten.
