John Larry Marchetti

June 24, 1940 — April 20, 2024

John Larry Marchetti, 83, of Lexington, Missouri, who was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by his family. He was born on June 24, 1940, on his father’s birthday and lived a life filled with passion for the outdoors and a deep love for his family and friends.  

 

A Visitation will be held from 9:30a.m. to 10:30a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024, the Presbyterian Disciples Church, 914 Franklin Avenue. Lexington, MO 64067. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:30a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the church. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Boy Scouts of America or Turner’s Society. John was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in farming, fishing, and hunting. He spent countless hours in his garden each summer, delighting in sharing its bounty with those he loved. His sense of humor and warm personality endeared him to many, and he cherished the time spent with friends, whether it was over morning coffee or at Friday Happy Hour. 

 

John’s dedication to his community was evident through his work at Vendo and in his farming endeavors. He was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Disciples Church for this entire life and a proud member of the Turner’s Society. John was also a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, embodying the values of service and leadership. 

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Linda (Yuille) Marchetti; daughter, Mindy (Marchetti) Wells, son-in-law, Brain Wells, and grandchildren, Brandon and Maria Wells of Overland Park, KS; grandson, Ryan Barker of Belton, MO; son-in-law, Kenny Barker and wife Sue Barker of Truman Lake, MO; brother, George Marchetti of Tulsa, OK; nephews, Kenny Marchetti of Dallas, TX, and Dan Marchetti and wife Liana (Wamshar) and their son, Jonathan of Conway, AR; brother, Roy Marchetti and sister-in-law Joyce Marchetti of Lexington, MO, and Nick and Leslie (Bowen) Marchetti and their children, Sophia and Nicholas of DeSoto, MO, and Tony and Rachael (Black) Marchetti and their children, Mia and Mattie of Smithville, MO; brother-in-law, Brent Yuille of Lawrence, KS; and faithful friend and fishing companion, Phillip Spease of Lexington, MO. 

 

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys (Francis) Marchetti; a daughter, K’Ann (Marchetti) Barker, Aunt Virginia (Francis) Maher “Aunt Honey”, and Lawrence Maher “Uncle Happy”, and Uncles James (George) and George (Dorothy) Francis of Lexington, MO. 

 

John will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. We take comfort in the hope of the resurrection and the knowledge that he is now reunited with loved ones who preceded him in death.
