James William Nevels, 87, of Lexington, Missouri passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Riverbend Heights Health and Rehabilitation in Lexington.

 

Per James’s request, cremation with no services.  Memorials are suggested to the Presbyterian Disciples Church.  Memories of James and condolences for his family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our Facebook page.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 S. James was born on July 31, 1935, in Terre Haute, Indiana to Charles and Berna Nevels.  He graduated from Lexington High School in Lexington, MO.  James retired from GM Leed’s Plant in Kansas City after 33 years of service.  James was united in marriage to Wilda I. Nevels on May 14, 2005, in Lexington, MO.  She preceded him in death on May 9, 2021.  He was a member of the Lexington Masonic Lodge and the UAW.  In addition to spending time with family and friends, James enjoyed tinkering with small motors and restoring Model T’s.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Shelli Weitkamp and husband Alan of Lexington, MO and Brenda Cox and husband David of Warrensburg, MO: seven grandchildren, Brian and Amanda Cox, James and Jennifer Cox, Amanda Martin, David, Jr. and Kaitlyn Cox, Brad and Amy Himbury, Brandon and Jessica Himbury, and Brett Luehrman; 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; and many extended relatives and friends.

 

James was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
