James “Jim” H. Kuhnlein, 75, of Lexington, Missouri passed away Wednesday July 16, 2025, at Lafayette Regional Health Care in Lexington, Missouri.
A Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2025, at Lexington United Methodist Church, 1211 S. Business Hwy 13, Lexington, Missouri. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow immediately after service at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Jim was born on November 29, 1949, in Independence, Missouri to Robert and Norma (Sterrett) Kuhnlein. Jim was a proud graduate of Fenwick High School in Ohio and carried the values of hard work and dedication throughout his many varied occupations. He began his career at ARMCO Steel in Ohio, later transitioned to the railroad in Kansas City, and contributed his skills to the Western Missouri Mental Health Center. His passion for service continued as he worked at the Kansas City Zoo and the Kansas City Parks and Recreation before concluding his career as a security officer at the downtown airport. He was a past member of the Water Garden Society of Greater KC and friends of the Anderson House in Lexington. On June 3, 1989, Jim was united in marriage to Pandora O. (Oshel) Kuhnlein in Independence, Missouri. An avid reader with a profound interest in history, Jim enjoyed participating in war games and had a special affinity for sailing and nurturing plants.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Pandora O. Kuhnlein of the home, one sister, Linda Kuhnlein of Independence, MO; two brothers, John (Debbie) Kuhnlein of IA and Bob Kuhnlein of Kanas City, MO; one brother-in-law, John (Kathy) Davidson of MO; three nieces, Laura (Tim) Buger of Kanas City, MO, Amy (Scott) Frahm of Kansas City, MO, and Ashley (Elijah) Britton of IA; three nephews, Mark (Alice) Kuhnlein of IA, Steve (Vickie) Davidson of Topeka, KS, and Bob (Bridget) Davidson of TX; two close friends, Jaclyn Mansfield of Grain Valley, MO and Sarah (Josh) Campbell of Lexington, MO; and many relatives and friends.
Along with both his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Gail Davidson.
