Born on November 25, 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri, to John D. and Jean (Smith) Kiefer. Jim’s journey through life was marked by kindness, strength, and a remarkable sense of humor that touched all who knew him.
Jim’s life was a testament to hard work and dedication. A graduate of Harrisonville High School in 1976, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the Marines. Although his military service was brief due to a medical discharge due to a knee injury, his commitment and discipline left a lasting impression, he furthered his education with junior college courses, always seeking to enrich his mind and skills.
For many years, Jim applied his talents as a machinist at Grain Valley Tool, a career he took great pride in. His work was not only a source of livelihood but a reflection of his steadfast character and meticulous nature. Beyond the shop, Jim found joy and solace in the great outdoors — fishing, hiking, tending to his yard, and woodworking were more than hobbies; they were passions that reflected his deep respect for nature and craftsmanship.
Above all, Jim cherished his family. He found his greatest pride and accomplishment in becoming a father and marrying the love of his life, Janice Kiefer.
Preceded by his parents John D. and Jean Marie (Smith) Kiefer; and his brother Jeff Kiefer.
He is survived by his loving wife Janice (Pederson) Kiefer; his children Keith Coker, Andrea Stoltman (Tyler), Amy Kiefer, William Fox (Mary Katherine), and Russell Fox (Megan Fiora). His 14 grandchildren, and his sisters Jan Cohick, Joey Adams, Johna Rettman, and Jill Kiefer. He will be fondly remembered by many other extended family and friends
