Odessa, Missouri

James "Jim" Lee Jeffries, 76, of Odessa, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home on May 15, 2026.

Born on February 10, 1950, in Kirksville, Missouri, to Paul O. Jeffries and Geneva (Davis) New. Jim lived a life rich with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.

Family has chosen cremation with Services to be determined at a later date. Memories of Jim and condolences for his family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our company Facebook Page. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, in Odessa, MO, 816-633-5524.

A proud graduate and athlete of Grain Valley High School in 1969. Jim was often found boasting about his time there and his accomplishments in Track and Football, Jim embraced the working man’s spirit, building a career as a Dry Wall Finisher for several local companies. His craftsmanship left a legacy, evident in the landmarks across Kansas City, including Crown Center, Independence Center, and many prominent corporate buildings. Yet, it was not just his skill with drywall that defined Jim but his warmth and kindness that touched everyone who knew him.

Jim's greatest pride was in becoming a father and grandfather. He cherished the moments spent with his children—Vincent, John, and Jackie—and delighted in the company of his grandchildren: Adeline, Sonny, Randy, Jim, Jennifer, and Mike. One of his fondest memories was taking tractor rides with his granddaughter Adeline, a joyful pastime that illuminated his deep love for family and simple pleasures. When he wasn’t sharing time with loved ones, Jim found solace and happiness fishing, often escaping to tranquil waters where he could embrace nature’s calm.

Known for his kind heart, Jim had a special love for animals, especially his cats and his beloved dog, Andy. Those close to him remember his great sense of humor and the genuine joy he exhibited while sharing stories and laughter, always making time to brighten the lives around him.

He is predeceased by his parents Paul Jeffries and Geneva New and sister Elaine Cordray.

Survived by his devoted wife, Carol Jeffries, his children, Vincent, John, and Jackie, grandchildren, Adeline, Sonny, Randy, Jim, Jennifer, and Mike, 3 great-grandchildren, and his brother Howard and sister-in-law Wanda, Jim's family remains a testament to the loving, generous man he was.
