Jack was born on June 21, 1940, in Lexington, Missouri to Leroy and Elsie (Kennedy) Evans. He grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School, forming lifelong friendships and deep roots in the community he would always call home. On April 1, 1961, Jack married the love of his life, Linda Sue Pope, in Liberty, Missouri. Their 65 years together were filled with devotion, laughter, and a partnership that served as the foundation for a close and loving family.
Jack spent 30 years working at Lake City Ammunition Plant, where he was known for his strong work ethic and quiet dedication. He took pride in providing for his family and in the life he built through hard work and perseverance.
Outside of work, Jack found his greatest joy in simply being with the people he loved. He was happiest surrounded by family—whether it was sharing stories, enjoying a day at Lake Viking, or heading out to fish. Those moments, big and small, meant everything to him. He had a steady, dependable presence and a way of making those around him feel comfortable and cared for.
Jack was a longtime member of the Lexington Moose Lodge and valued the friendships he made there over the years. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his quiet strength, and the deep love he had for his family.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Sue Evans of Lexington, Missouri; his sons, Bryan (Stacy) Evans of Platte City, Missouri, and Bruce (Angela) Evans of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; his brother, Kenny Evans of Warsaw, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Brittany Evans; his great-grandson, Bradley Breshears; his brothers, Johnny Evans and Larry Evans; and a sister, Donna Burkhart.
Jack’s life was a testament to love, loyalty, and the importance of family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
