Gregory Allen Jenkins

Dec 1, 1964 — Jun 27, 2026

Gregory “Greg” Allen Jenkins, 61, of Wellington, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family he loved deeply.

Greg was born on December 1, 1964, in Lexington, Missouri, to Larry and Judith (Ainsworth) Jenkins. From the start, Greg had a spark, an easy smile, a competitive streak, and a way of making even ordinary days feel like something worth remembering. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1983, where he shined in track and basketball. Later, he found his stride in adult softball, playing with the same enthusiasm he brought to everything else. After high school, Greg began his career as an iron worker and proudly retired from the Local 10 union in 2019 He wasn’t just good at the job, he cared about it. He mentored younger workers, shared what he knew, and took pride in doing things the right way. One of the highlights of his career was supervising construction of the Ike Skelton Bridge in his hometown of Lexington.

On January 17, 1998, Greg married Billie Jean (Brown) Jenkins, the love of his life. Together, they built a home full of laughter, music, and the kind of gatherings where Greg’s humor, quick wit, and big personality set the tone. If Greg was there, you knew you were going to have a good time. Greg loved the outdoors in a way that felt almost woven into who he was. He found peace fishing on the river, excitement in hunting, joy in gardening, and a special kind of satisfaction in mushroom hunting. He carried on his family’s tradition of winemaking, and he loved throwing horseshoes, playing cornhole, and joining fair tournaments with friends. But some of his favorite moments were the simple ones, bonfires in the evening, music playing, friends gathered close, and Greg right in the middle of it all, making everyone laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Jean Jenkins; his children: Eric Jenkins of Overland Park, Kansas; Keith Jenkins of Blue Springs, Missouri; Zachary Jenkins and wife McKinley of Lexington, Missouri; and Carleigh Jenkins of Wellington, Missouri; and his granddaughter, Ellie Jenkins. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Brock of Sedalia, Missouri; his brothers, Scott Jenkins and wife Sam of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Mark Jenkins and wife Shannon of Blue Springs, Missouri; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss him more than words can say.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents.
