Shirley Ann (Little) Moon, 74 of Kearney, passed away peacefully at Northcare Hospice in North Kansas City, Missouri MO on Friday, April 27, 2012. Shirley, the second child of Charles W. and Anna Hackley Little, was born in Lexington, Missouri on January 10, 1938 and lived most of her childhood in Odessa. Shirley Little married her high school sweetheart, Frankie L. Moon, on July 3, 1956 at Ft. Gordon, Georgia, where Frank was serving in the U.S. Army. Shirley was a proud Army wife for 21 years during which time she and Frank lived in Germany, Panama and several different States. Shirley pursued a career as a civil servant in the U.S. Department of Defense and retired from that service at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas after 12 years. Shirley had a passion for travel that she shared with Frank, and after retirement they were active members of the SMART-MOHAWKS, a Military travel club. Shirley cherished the time she and Frank spent together on the road and especially loved cruising in the Caribbean, an activity she and Frank were able to do several times. Shirleys love of travel and adventure was exceeded only by her love of spending time with family and friends. Shirley leaves behind Frank, her loving husband of 55 years, her daughter, Sheralyn Moon-Rea and children Aceenia, Aleashea, Gerri and Isaac; her daughter Shelley Bishop and children Michael, Piper and Dallas; her son Brandon Moon and son Elijah, her son Brent Moon; and her son Brett Moon, his wife Po and children Alex and Chris and eight Great-Grand Children. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jackie Ivan Little and her son, Brian Lee Moon. Shirley inspired love and friendship in the people she met throughout her life and she will be missed by many other friends and relatives. Her life will be celebrated on June 16, 2012, 1:00 pm, La Bella Winery in Wellington. Family services will be held aboard ship in the Southern Caribbean where Shirleys ashes will be scattered at sea per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society or the Salvation Army. Her life will be celebrated on June 16, 2012, 1:00 pm, La Bella Winery in Wellington.
