Gerald Lee Lockwood

Jul 31, 1936 — Oct 3, 2026

Gerald “Jerry” Lee Lockwood, 90, of Centerview, Missouri, a faithful ambassador for his Lord and Savior, went home to be with Him on Saturday, October 3, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Jerry was a devoted member of Enon Baptist Church for 52 years and faithfully served as a deacon for 50 years. His faith was the foundation of his life, and his love for the Lord was evident in the way he lived and cared for others.

Jerry was born in Kansas City, Kansas, along with his twin sister, Marlene. The family later moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Jerry and Marlene were raised. Jerry graduated from Raytown High School in 1954. In 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Louise. They shared 64 years of marriage until Louise’s passing from Alzheimer’s disease in 2019.

Jerry worked as a union carpenter for more than 45 years. He was also a proud farmer, raising registered Angus cattle on his farm for 52 years. He and Louise enjoyed working together in their garden, and Jerry was well known for growing an amazing garden and sharing the fruits of their labor with others.

Jerry was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He hunted duck, quail, pheasant, and dove and enjoyed fishing for bass, bluegill, catfish, salmon, and just about anything else that would bite. Whether working on the farm, tending his garden, hunting, fishing, or simply visiting with friends and family, Jerry found joy in the simple things and in the people around him.

And then there was Jerry’s gift for gab.

That gift has now been handed down through three generations and will continue to live on. Jerry truly never knew a stranger. He could talk to anyone about anything—even a fence post! He had a remarkable ability to find a subject he and another person had in common, and from there, what started as a simple conversation could easily become an hour-long discussion. Before long, you might find yourself standing there with tired feet, completely captivated by one of Jerry’s stories or conversations.

Jerry’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the special people who helped care for him in his last days. To the staff at Silverado Memory Care of Lee’s Summit and Ascend Hospice, thank you for your compassion, kindness, and genuine care. Your support and the love you showed Jerry brought great comfort to our family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Lockwood; his parents, Harry and Mary Lockwood; and his granddaughter, Kimberly Lockwood.

He is survived by his twin sister, Marlene Roberts of Independence, Missouri; his son, Steve Lockwood (Sally) of Raymore, Missouri; his daughter, Terri Gorman (Wayne) of Raymore, Missouri; his grandchildren, Jason Lockwood (Dina) of Olathe, Kansas, Megan (Fritz) Mihelcic of Columbia, Illinois, Monica (Steve) Siesener of Imperial, Missouri, and Alyssa Gilmore (Michael) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and his great-grandchildren, Braden Lockwood (Claire), Ella Gilmore, Jack Siesener, and Audrey Siesener.

Jerry leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, hard work, service, and love. His stories, laughter, conversations, and unmistakable gift for connecting with people will be remembered and carried forward by the generations who loved him.
