Elizabeth "Liz" Ann (McFadden) Woodward, 81, of Higginsville, Missouri passed away July 22, 2026, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri, surrounded by family.
A celebration of life service will take place at a future date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home in Lexington, Missouri. Memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project; AWOL Humane Society of Independence, Kansas; and 4-H clubs in Lafayette County, Missouri.
She was born October 16, 1944, in Lexington, Missouri, the daughter of Virgil and Mary Alice (Marcks) McFadden. She graduated from Higginsville High School in 1963 and attended classes at Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, MO afterward. She later completed paralegal training at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas and worked for many years supporting lawyers in both private and public practice. She worked for the Montgomery County Kansas Attorney's Office from 1997 to 2011. Liz was also an active member of the Episilon Sigma Alpha community service sorority, Beta Rho chapter, in Independence, Kansas for 36 years.
Liz married Robert "Bob"/"Woody" Woodward on December 30, 1972, at the United Methodist Church in Lexington, Missouri. They moved to Independence, Kansas in 1980 and made their home there. After Bob passed away in 2014, Liz returned to Higginsville in 2019 where she lived at John Knox Village East until her passing.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her brother Jim (Pam) McFadden of Midland, Michigan and her sister Malinda McFadden of Vancouver, Washington; her step-son Kurt (Krista) Woodward of Anchorage, Alaska; three step-grandchildren Kelli (Zach) Hughes of Eagle River, Alaska; Brandon (Heather) Woodward of Columbia, South Carolina, and Kaitlin Woodward of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four step-great grandchildren, one nephew, and numerous cousins.
