Dorothy Ann (Borgman) Stalling, 84 of Lenexa, Kansas passed away on Monday June 2, 2025, at Stratford Commons Memory Care in Overland Park, KS due to complications related to Alzheimer’s.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2025, at St. Luke Evangelical Free Church, 700 MO-224, Wellington, MO, 64097. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2025, at the church. Interment will be in the St. Luke Cemetery. Dorothy was born on December 20, 1940, in Wellington, MO to Omer and Erna (Nieweg) Borgman. She graduated in 1958 from Wellington-Napoleon High School. After high school Dorothy moved to Kansas City and attended Kansas City Business College where she earned a stenography/secretarial degree. She was an Executive Secretary for Speas Apple and Vinegar Company in Kansas City. On May 26, 1962, Dorothy was united in marriage to David Laurence Stalling at St. Luke Evangelical Free Church in Wellington and soon moved to Columbia, MO. Dorothy worked for Boone Electric Coop during their early marriage. She was instrumental in helping David complete his PhD and supported him as he started ABC Laboratories, all while raising their three children. Her contributions to her family, home and David’s career were critical to the family’s success. After 31 years of living in Columbia the couple moved to Lenexa, KS. Dorothy was an avid quilter, making hundreds of quilts and entering her work in numerous shows. She was an active member of Blue Valley Quilters Guild. She also enjoyed flower arranging, oil painting, gardening, and playing the piano. Dorothy was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church and joined Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Overland Park, KS. She enjoyed music, singing and traveling with David. Dorothy loved spending time with family and socializing with their many friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great grandma.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 63 years, David Stalling of Lenexa; three children, Sheila K. (Stalling) Bishop and husband Michael of Olathe, KS, Mark D. Stalling of Denver, CO, and Michael C. Stalling and wife Kristen of Overland Park, KS; four grandchildren, Andrew Bishop and Austin Bishop of Olathe, Brett and Madeline Stalling of Overland Park; one great-granddaughter, Savannah Smith of Overland Park; one brother, Don Borgman of Wellington.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Simmons.
