David Stanley Lunsford

David Stanley Lunsford, 77, of Odessa, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, Missouri.  

A Committal Service with military honors will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville, Missouri. 20109 Bus, MO-13, Higginsville, Missouri 64037. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church or to the family in care of Vicki Lunsford. David was born April 28, 1946, to Stanley Wendell Lunsford and Laura Eugina (Sneary) Newman. David graduated from Haven High School in 1965. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968. David received a national defense service medal and Sharpshooter medal. He worked for Home Depot in retail sales for ten in a half years. He was an active member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. David was united in marriage to Vicki Lynn (Brothers) Lunsford on December 14, 1996, in Hutchinson, Kansas. Along with spending time with family and friends, He was an avid Kansas City Chief’s and Kansas University basketball fan. David spent most of his days reading. 

David is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Lynn Lunsford of Odessa, MO; four children, Melissa Lunsford of Oklahoma City, KS, Julie (David) Hopkins of Hutchinson, KS, Stacy Dix of Odessa, MO, and Brain (Erin) Dix of St. Louis, MO; eleven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild come June; one sister, Frances Shore and husband of Las Vegas, NV, one brother, Terry (Janet) Lunsford of Parsons, KS; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.   

Along with both his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Lunsford of Hutchinson, KS.
