David Michael Jenkins, 65, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs, MO.

 

A family hosted Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the First Baptist Church, 100 W. OO Hwy, Odessa, MO, 64076.  Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Memories of David and condolences for his family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our Facebook Page.  Cremation has been entrusted to the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. 

 

David was born on October 24, 1957, in Massillon, Ohio to Dean and Elizabeth Cecilia (Nalbach) Jenkins.  He graduated high school in Massillon, OH.  David owned and operated West Coast Ceramics in California, then he moved to Odessa and started working as a Janitor at Mayview High School in Mayview, MO.  He also co-owned Slots of Fun with Elka Schambers, David owned and operated Midwest Floral Supplies and retired from Tyson Food’s in Concordia, MO.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa.  In addition to spending time with family and friends, David enjoyed barrel horse racing, going to the movies, Comicon conventions, shooting ranges, archery and swimming. 

 

Survivors include three children, David Jenkins of Independence, MO, Aaron Jenkins of Higginsville, and Amanda Butler (Tony) of Higginsville, MO; seven grandchildren, Lucian Jenkins, Dresden Jenkins, Avalon Jenkins, Isabelle Opfer, Brooklyn Opfer, Azaela Opfer, and Haley Grace Butler; four sisters, Alanah Noyes of California, Elizabeth Morrow of Beach City, OH, Jo Jorgenson (Jay) of Beach City, OH, and Wansa Cloiter of North Ridge, CA; three brothers, Mark Jenkins (Jamie) of Beach City, OH, Terry Jenkins (Daniele) of California, and Jimmy Newsome of Rosamond, CA; a step mother, Cleo Jenkins of California; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. 

 

David was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Elizabeth and Bob Kennedy; his father, Dean Jenkins; and two brothers, Richard and Dean Jenkins.
