Darleen Doris Mangnall

Odessa, Missouri

 

 

Darleen D. Mangnall, age 91 passed away on August 9th, 2022. She arrived into this world on March 30, 1931, born to Harry and Neoma Gooch in Huntsville, Missouri. She graduated from high school in Richmond, Missouri in 1949 and married the love of her life, Tom Ed Mangnall on September 9, 1950. 

Darleen graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and taught in the Kansas City public school system until 1968. That year, Tom and Darleen moved to a beautiful farm outside Bates City, MO and made countless family memories that will continue to be cherished by her loved ones. She taught first grade at McQuerry elementary in Odessa for many years and was known for her kindness and compassion for her students. After she retired, she volunteered as a docent and tour guide for the Bingham Waggoner Mansion and Estate in Independence, MO.  

She loved playing cards with friends, reading and was an avid collector of antiques. Her greatest love was her family. She was always willing to host a family meal, weather that be a pizza on the porch, lunch at the picnic table or taking her family out to eat. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was always therefor her family when she was needed.  

She is survived by her son Thomas Mangnall and his wife Laura of Blue Springs, MO, her daughter Mary Mangnall of Cranston, RI. Grandchildren, Joel and Laura Mangnall and their two children Owen and Ian of Blue Springs, Mo Jessie Mangnall and her daughter Cameron of Oak Grove, MO, Andrew Guilmette, of Cranston, RI, Jay Guilmette of Cranston, RI and Kelsey Mangnall of Columbia, MO.  

The family sends happy wishes and thankful prayers for those she taught or taught with, to her bridge and game clubs, and her many friends, and a heartfelt thanks to those who gave care to Darleen in the fast few years. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2022, at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home.  A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  A private family inurnment will follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation.  Ralph O.
