Chester L. Smith

Chester Lee Smith, 83, of Mayview, Missouri passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 South Second Street, Odessa, MO 64076, 816-633-5524. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Odessa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to One Community Hospice. Chester was born on June 22, 1941, in Waverly, Missouri to George B. and Edna Lorene (Rosebaum) Smith. In 1959, Chester graduated from Mayview High School. Chester was united in marriage on August 8, 1969, to Marjorie Katherine (Coleman) Smith in Millville, Missouri. Chester retired after 33 years working for Lake City in maintenance. Along with spending time with family and friends, Chester enjoyed farming, going to tractor pulls, watching NASCAR, and restoring his antique John Deere tractors.

Chester is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Katherine Smith of the home, two children, Tracey Jones of Mayview, MO and Brian (Jennifer) Smith of Odessa, MO; five grandchildren, Jason (Taylor) Duke, Rachel Duke, Zachary Smith, Ryan Robbins, and Rachel Robbins; five great-grandchildren, Anna Duke, Koleman Ogan, Brayden Duke, Maci Ogan, and Konner Ogan, and many relatives and friends.

Chester was preceded in death by both his parents.
