Cecil Wheeler

Cecil L. Wheeler, 87 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at New Haven Nursing Home in Odessa, MO.

Cecil was born on January 21, 1936, in Mercer County, MO to William Roy and Iva (Simms) Wheeler.  He graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, MO.  On April 17, 1970, he was united in marriage to Wilma Jean Barbour in Kansas City, MO.  Cecil worked in maintenance for many years, he retired from Morrison’s Cafeteria.  Cecil’s work allowed he and Wilma to enjoy the southern part of the United States.  They lived in Florida for many years before moving to the mountains of Tennessee and finally settling in Odessa, MO.  In addition to spending time with family and friends, Cecil enjoyed golfing, rebuilding cars, and was an accomplished mechanic.

Cecil is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wilma Wheeler of Odessa, MO; four children, Robert Earl Wheeler of Tequesta, FL, Sandy Alarcon of Kansas City, MO, Katherine Louise Wheeler of West Palm Beach, FL, and Athena Jean (Kenneth) Sharp of Mendon, MO; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; one son-in-law, Giovanni Alarcon; one daughter-in-law, Sally Wheeler; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by a son, Roy Eugene Wheeler; one sister, Helen Hartung; and five brothers, Earl Wheeler, J.B. Wheeler, William Wheeler, Buddy Wheeler, and John Wheeler.
