Carl Ray Haney, 84, of rural Odessa, Missouri passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Lexington, MO with Reverend Harold Phillips and Reverend Aubrey Burk officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. Second St., Odessa, MO 64076, 816-633-5524. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery in Independence, MO. Memorial are suggested to Crossroads Hospice, First Baptist Church of Lexington, or charity of donors choice. Condolences for the family may be left at www.ralphojones.com. Carl was born on January 19, 1929 in Coleman County, Texas to Oran and Anna (McQueen) Haney. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was a Master Sergeant. On August 20, 1950 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Anne Hifner in Independence, MO, who survives of the home. For many years he owned Haney Painting working as a professional painter. Carl and Elizabeth were members of the First Baptist Church in Lexington, MO. He was a 2006 graduate of Odessa High School. Every morning after breakfast he and Elizabeth would play board games. In Carls spare time he and Elizabeth spent much of their time traveling overseas, playing cards, enjoying their season tickets to the New Theater, traveling the United States in their RV. Carl loved to hunt deer, watch sports on TV but most of all loved being with friends and family. In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by three children, Jim Haney and wife Donna of Richmond, Virginia, Jerry Lynn Haney and wife Sharon of Odessa, MO and Terry Lee Haney and wife Konnie of Odessa, MO; seven grandchildren, Heather McGee, Rachel Haney, Chrystal Simpson, Joshua Haney, Kristina Haney, Whitney Haney and Karmen Haney; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Tredaway of Midland, TX; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Carl was preceded in death by a grandson, Andy Warren; two sisters, Muriel Metts and Faye Lynn.
