Wayne Lawson Lockard

Wayne Lawson Lockard, 78, of Centerview, Missouri, passed away on Sunday July 25, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, July 30, 2021, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd Street, Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A private inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Centerview Cemetery Association or Johnson County Cancer Fund (JCCF) and may be left in care of the funeral home. Wayne was born on December 22, 1942, to Archie J. and Mildred (Wilson) Lockard in Johnson County, MO. He graduated from Warrensburg High School in Warrensburg, MO. Wayne was later drafted into the United States Army, serving until honorably discharged. Wayne was united in marriage to Mary Lou (Davis) Lockard in Lee’s Summit, MO. They later divorced but remained friends. He then united in marriage to Lorelei “Susie” (Kern). She preceded him in death on December 20, 1994. In addition to working for Lake City Army Ammunition for over 30 years, Wayne raised cattle on his farm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and hosting fish frys for his family and friends.

Survivors include three children, Kenneth W. Lockard and wife, Karen, of Raymore, MO, Laurie Mifflin and husband, Sid, of Warrensburg, MO, and Tim Kern and wife, Jane, of Grain Valley, MO; a grandson, Brad Mifflin and wife, Rachel of Warrensburg, MO; a great granddaughter, Lorelei Mifflin; a brother, Jim Lockard and wife, Reba, of Centerview, MO; special, long-time friend, Donna Matthews of Warrensburg, MO; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

In addition to his late wife, Lorelei, Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Archie J. Lockard; his mother, Mildred Hillsman; a brother, Jerry Lockard; a sister, Sally Conseco; and a daughter in infancy.
