Thomas "Skip" Leroy Bartley

Thomas “Skip” Leroy Bartley, 72, of Concordia passed away March 30, 2020 at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Due to restrictions at this time, services will be held at a later date. Burial will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville. Memories and condolences may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com. Tom was born August 11, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri to Junieus “J.E.” and Hester “Margaret” (Newell) Bartley. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1966. During the Vietnam War he served in the United States Navy and retired as a field medic from the National Guard. Tom earned a National Defense Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. On February 8, 1969 he married Peggy Lee Bagby in Lexington. Tom worked for more than 10 years for Harold’s Supermarket in Lexington. He was a member of the VFW, enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid donator to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Tom is survived by his wife, Peggy and great grandson, Darien Bartley of the home; children, Patricia Bartley and Roy Dean of Meeker, Colorado, Kimberley French and husband Ira of Concordia, Krista Scantland and husband Alex of Frankfort, Indiana and Matthew Bartley of Meeker, Colorado; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and brothers, Bobby Bartley and wife Beverly of Exter, California and David Bartley and wife Toshiko of Spanaway, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Bartley; and sister, Mary Deal.
