Shirley Ann Guevel

May 29, 1933 — February 24, 2021

Shirley Ann Guevel, 87, of Lexington passed away February 24, 2021 at Lafayette Regional Health Center. Visitation will be Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home. There will be a private funeral service and burial at Machpelah Cemetery, Lexington. Memorials may be made to the Darrick Homfeld Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Lexington United Methodist Church. Memories and condolences may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com. Shirley was born May 29, 1933 in Lexington to Pierre and Marguerite (Gueguen) Collobert. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1950. On October 22, 1951 Shirley married Eph Guevel in Lexington. She worked for many years as an office manager and agent for Shelter Insurance.

Shirley was very involved in her community. She was a member of the Lexington United Methodist Church, the GFWC Women's Club of Lexington, Lexington BPW, the United Methodist Women and the Women of the Moose. She was an accomplished seamstress, making banners and uniforms for the school and sewing letters on letter jackets for many students. She was a Girl Scout leader and a founding den mother of Cub Scout Pack 440. Shirley had served on the board of Girl's Town of Missouri and Lafayette County Board of Sheltered Services and she served in many roles for the Missouri GFWC and the Second District of Missouri GFWC. Shirley was also a founder and board member of House of Hope in Lexington.

Survivors include her children, Eph Guevel, Jr, (EJ) of Lexington, Larry Guevel and wife Mary Kay of Dallas, Texas, Gene Guevel and wife Lorna of Lee's Summit and Ellen Guevel and wife Linda of Dunedin, Florida; grandchildren, Lauren Weems and husband Beamer, Grant Guevel and wife Amanda, Jackie Harrison and husband Kevin, Ted Guevel and Lily Guevel; great grandchildren, Gavin and Grace Guevel and Bella Rose Weems; and sister, Evelyn Thomas and husband Dick of Beaverton, Oregon.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister Marjorie Mudd and brother Pierre Collobert.
