Shirley Mae Dennis

Shirley Mae Dennis of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2020 at age 84. She was born in Nelson, MO on March 17, 1935 to Gurney Edward and Mary Marguerite Reed. Her husband of 52 years, Thomas “Tom” Dennis, preceded her in death on February 18, 2003.
Surviving children and their spouses are daughter Cathy and husband David Boots of Cape Coral, FL and son Michael and wife Bonnie Dennis of Blue Springs, MO. Shirley was grandmother to Matthew Dennis and wife Suzi of Rockville, MD and Kyle Dennis and wife Jess Rezac of North Kansas City, MO. Her great granddaughters are Louise Rezac-Dennis of North Kansas City, MO and Margaret and Eleanor Dennis of Rockville, MD.
The third of ten children, Shirley had seven sisters and two brothers: sisters - Ryle Wischmeier of Blue Springs, MO, Virginia Kennedy (†1994), Helen Wilken of Jefferson City, MO, Donna Blevins (†2013), Carolyn Balke of Clinton, MO, Patricia Carson of Kansas City, MO, Jackie Self of Columbia, MO; brothers - Muriel “Gene” Reed (†2017) and Gurney Reed Jr. of Olympia, WA.
A memorial service honoring Shirley will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Odessa, MO on Saturday, February 8th, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. with burial at Salt Fork Cemetery in Blackwater, MO at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please forward any memorial donation to Calvary Baptist Church, 7995 Outer Road, Odessa, MO 64076. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ralph O.
