Roy E. Sousley Sr.

April 16, 1943 — May 16, 2020

Roy E. Sousley, Sr., 77, with his family close by, entered into his forever home on May 16, 2020 at Oak Grove Nursing and Rehab in Oak Grove, Missouri, from Rheumatoid Arthritis, which he had suffered from for several years.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, May 22, 2020 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd Street, Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Glensted Cemetery, 11521 Glensted Road, Versailles, MO 65084. Memorials are suggested to Glensted Cemetery. Roy was born on April 16, 1943 in Russellville, MO to Harold Owen Columbus and Viola Marie (Wiser) Sousley. On May 19, 1962, Roy was united in marriage to Laura Hedrick in Tipton, MO. Roy worked as a boiler and elevator inspector for the United States Postal Service for 20 years. After retiring, he later went on to fulfill his dream of being a mechanical contractor for 15 years. Roy was a member of the Odd Fellow’s Club. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa. He lived his life to its fullest. He loved getting up early to make coffee, so he and his wife could enjoy drinking it on the deck while they spent their favorite time together....watching the sunrise. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Roy enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, Joe and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Laura of the home; one son, Joe Sousley and wife Anna; a son in law, Larry Gamblin; one brother, Charles; four sisters, Linda, Barbara, Sandra, and Alma; six grandchildren, Laura K. Gamblin Edwards, Mackenzie L. Sousley, Colton Roy Sousley, Emily Marie Gamblin, Brooklyn Eaves, and Savannah Bowerman; four great grandchildren, Damari James, Daven Roy, Madison Abigail, and Delaney Marie; and many more relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by one son, Roy “Bubby” Sousley, Jr.; and one daughter Laura Marie (Sousley) Gamblin.
