Rosemary Scharnhorst

October 25, 1940 — October 28, 2019

Rosemary “Rosie” (Maxwell) Scharnhorst, 79, of Lexington, passed away October 28, 2019 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Trinity United Church of Christ, Lexington from 3:00 until 4:00 pm. A memorial service will also be on Thursday at the church at 4:00 pm. Rosie was born October 25, 1940 in Lexington to Ralph and Josie (Harrison) Maxwell. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1958. On June 1, 1958 she married Delmar “Del” Scharnhorst in Lexington. She worked as an office manager for Wendy’s International for over 10 years. Rosie was a member of Lexington Garden Club, PEO and was the catcher for the Bluebells Softball team. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and was very active, working in the office, helping in the kitchen, the garden and making apple butter.

Survivors include her children, Dean Scharnhorst and wife Melinda of Raleigh, North Carolina, Jim Scharnhorst and husband Randy of Powhatan, Virginia, and Ed Scharnhorst and wife Aurelia of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Jonathan Kyle Scharnhorst, Jennifer Kay Scharnhorst, Jill Marie Scharnhorst, Kevin Allen Scharnhorst, Maxwell Arden Scharnhorst, and James Edward Scharnhorst; brothers, Henry Maxwell of Laurie, Missouri and Donald Maxwell and wife Marybelle of Lexington; sisters, Betty Dunford of Richmond, Janice Wilhoit of Aiken, South Carolina and Dorothy Renno of Lexington. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ralph and Larry Maxwell; and sister Joan Maxwell.
