Nellie Margaret Mayfield, 90 of Wellington, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, MO.
A private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery. Nellie was born on June 21, 1927 in Warsaw, MO to Christopher Columbus & Olive Mae (Tullis) Birch. She graduated from Slater High School in Slater, MO. On September 7, 1946 she married Charles Edwin Mayfield in Slater. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2007. Nellie was a member of the Slater Christian Church. She was a homemaker. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Nellie was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed reading.
Survivors include four children, Teresa Anne Olson of Lincoln, MO, Donna Lynn Ryun and husband Teddy and Rebecca Diane White and husband Gary both of Wellington, MO and Stephanie Jill Keehn and husband John of Stover, MO; eight grandchildren, Stacy Adkins and husband Ed of Cole Camp, MO, Rusty Olson and fiancé Shannon of Greenridge, MO, Peggy Scott and husband Robin of Oak Grove, MO, Steve Ryun and wife Lana of Wellington, MO, Chris White of Adrian, MO, Amy Pierce and husband Russ of Higginsville, MO, Jackie Witte and husband Josh of Stover, MO and Jessica Keehn of Sedalia, MO; thirteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nellie was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Birch and Joseph Birch; and two sisters, Christine Ackelberry and Dorothy Dobbins.
