Kathryn Kasick Stewart

Kathryn Elizabeth Stewart, 69, passed away on June 30, 2021.

Kathryn was born on November 19, 1951 in Kansas City, Kansas to Adam and Isabel Kasick. She graduated from Bishop Ward High School, Stormont-Vail Nursing School, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

She was a natural caregiver, serving as a nurse in a variety of capacities including for the Veteran's Administration, St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs, and Kansas City Hospice. She also provided end of life care for several elderly relatives and wrote a guest column for the Kansas City Star FaithWalk column entitled "Finding Joy in God, Even in Death's Shadow."

Kathryn married Robert Stewart on January 14, 1978. Bob and Kathy fell in love to the music of Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard. They loved traveling together, visiting most of the United States and China, Russia, Ireland, and more.

Kathy prioritized family above all else and loved cheering on her grandchildren in sports, teaching them how to sew and cook, going boating and swimming and just generally goofing off with them.

She is survived by her husband Robert; daughters Kelly (Jason), Claire, and Margaret; grandchildren Caleb, Josh, Grace, Charlie and Jane-Kathryn; brother Jim Kasick and sister Judy Ulrich.

She was preceded in death by her parents Adam and Isabel and by her brother Ray.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation or City Union Mission (Kansas City).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 3rd at 10am at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 1433 NW R.D. Mize Rd, Blue Springs, MO.
