Julia M. Hunter

Julia Hunter passed away comfortably and quietly in the care of Shirkey Nursing Facility Hospice in Richmond, Missouri on January 1, 2021. She was the youngest child of the late Marshall Wilson and Maurine Douglass Wilson of Lexington, Missouri. She was born on July 1, 1929.
She was a 1945 graduate of Douglas High School in Lexington and attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri for one semester.
In 1947 she was united in marriage with Ira A. Hunter. To this unit six children were born.
Julia was a member of Zion A.M.E. Church in Lexington until the doors closed.
Julia was employed for many years with Higginsville State School, Places shoe department, and ended her working career as a clerk with Rush Drugstore.
Julia loved music and only her real, closest friends knew she loved to dance. If you wanted to know anything about the history of Lexington or surrounding towns, she was the one to call. Julia kept up with all the news that was in the paper for all of her friends. If you needed a clipping or article that had been in the paper, she was the one to call.
Julia believed in hard work, her word was her bond and she encouraged all to do their best. She enjoyed traveling around the country to visit her children and grandchildren living in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Memphis and Des Moines.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, “D” Ivory Hunter of Lexington, Missouri; son, Damon Hunter (Jamille) of Memphis, Tennesse; grandsons, Cameron Robinson (Katie), Joseph Robinson, Nigel Hunter, Micah Hunter, Liam Hunter, Julian Hunter and Lauren Hunter; a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sons, Craig, Mitchell, Ethan and Maurice; and one sister, Anna Lauline Spencer.
