    Joe Phillip Shepherd

    November 6, 1940 - April 4, 2022

    Joe Phillip Shepherd, 81, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. Second Street, Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Odessa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home. Joe was born on November 6, 1940, to Joe Phillip Roland and Ada Pauline (Butcher) Shepherd in Clinton, MO. After graduating from William Chrisman High School, he went to work for AT&T, retiring in 1990. On December 20, 1974, Joe was united in marriage to Shirley Joan Adams in Miami, OK. He was a member of the Blue Springs Masonic Lodge, Blue Springs Shriner’s Club and Heartland Church of Blue Springs, MO. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling to Canada and watching westerns. Joe is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; seven children, Jody (Kevin) Haney of Grain Valley, MO, Susie (Ray) Marianda of Grain Valley, MO, Nancy (Matt) Bankston, Iris (Gary) Hubbard of Milo, MO, Theresa Protenic of North Kansas City, MO, Sheila (Jim) Landes of Blue Springs, MO, and Darla (Leon) Butler of Grain Valley, MO; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rozella Gorden of Blue Springs, MO. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Roland Parshall.
