James "Ed" Edward Jenkins

June 15, 1944 — July 13, 2017

James Edward Jenkins, 73, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Thursday July 13, 2017 at home surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday July 17, 2017 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 17, 2017 at the funeral home. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Ruth Ann’s Run for Hope, 2007 Walnut St., Higginsville, MO 64037. Ed was born on June 15, 1944 in Lexington, MO to Rollie and Glenna (Orndoff) Jenkins. He graduated in 1962 from Lexington High School. On January 12, 1963 he married Corleen Mary (McCanna) Jenkins in Ashland, Oregon. She survives of the home. Ed worked for Armco Steel for 19 years in Kansas City, MO until the plant closed and then he retired in 2015 from Ben’s Lawn and Garden in Blue Springs, MO as a Manager after 23 years of service. Ed was Baptist by faith. He was a member of the Missouri Trappers Association. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Ed enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Ed is survived by his wife Corleen Jenkins of Odessa, MO; three children, David Riley Jenkins and fiancé Tonya of Odessa, MO, Corleen Mary Bellis and husband Roy of Independence, MO and Michelle Scholle and husband Ken of Odessa, MO; a son-in-law, Walt McNew of Odessa, MO; 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Jenkins and wife Fuji of Bremerton, Washington and Thomas Jenkins of Odessa, MO; and a sister, Carol King of Odessa, MO and many nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, a son James Edward Jenkins, Jr., a daughter, Diana Carol McNew; two brothers, Rollie Jenkins, Jr. and Jim Jenkins.
