Gordon Lee Fristoe, 81, of Odessa, MO, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Villages of Jackson Creek in Independence, MO.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd Street, Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A graveside service with military rites will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery, 20109 Bus. MO-13, Higginsville, MO, 64037. Facemasks are recommended. Gordon was born on August 28, 1939 in Kansas City, MO to William and Lillian (Gordon) Fristoe. After graduating from Odessa High School in 1957, he enlisted in the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War and was stationed in Korea, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter Rifle M-14, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. After being honorably discharged Gordon attended Drury University in Springfield, MO, receiving his Master of Business Administration degree. He worked as an I.T. professional in Computer System Management, and worked as a farmer, raising cattle and row crops. In addition to being a historian, Gordon was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of the War of 1812, and the Jamestown Society. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, ancestry, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Leslie Martin and husband, David of Springfield, MO, April Louise Fregeau and husband, Paul of Blue Springs, MO, Charity Lynn Davis and husband, Barry of Leawood, KS, and Charlene Lydia Fristoe of Independence, MO; two brothers, William Douglas Fristoe and wife, Louise of Blue Springs, MO and Dewey Daniel Fristoe and wife, Suzanne of Clinton, MO; two sisters, Cheryl Jean Crabtree and husband, Raymond of Warrensburg, MO and Thomasandra Bradford of Blue Springs, MO; nine grandchildren; ten greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Gordon was united in marriage to Barbara (Varner). She preceded him in death. In addition to his wife, Barbara, Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Anita Rochelle Harmon.
