Gladys Augusta (Hoffman) Lichte, 90, of Lexington, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Cedarhurst of Blue Springs in Blue Springs, MO.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 1312 Franklin Ave, Lexington, MO 64067. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lexington. Gladys was born on August 10, 1931, in Waterloo, MO to John Hugo and Amanda Lena (Piepmeier) Hoffman. She graduated in 1949 as Salutatorian from Lexington High School. On September 14, 1949, Gladys was united in marriage to Forrest Albert Lichte at Trinity United Church of Christ in Lexington, and they spent many happy years on their farm with their four children. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1990. Gladys was a Deputy Circuit Clerk for Lafayette County for many years before being elected as the Circuit Clerk. Gladys retired from the United States Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier at the age of 74. She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ and served as the church Organist for 72 years. Gladys had a passion for music; in addition to teaching music to her children and many local students, she also accompanied them at contest. She loved traveling the world and was fortunate to be able to take each grandchild on a trip. Gladys loved spending time with family and friends, was an avid reader and traveler, and loved watching Jeopardy.
Gladys is survived by four children, Mark Forrest Lichte of Kansas City, MO, Scott (Christine) Lichte of Warrensburg, MO, Janeece (Mark) Dent-Bennett of Lee's Summit, MO, and Ruth (John) Monson of Lee's Summit, MO; 12 grandchildren, Ruby (Burak) Powers, David (Drielle) Lichte, Emily (Brad) Bucher, Amanda (Brendan) O'Shaughnessy, Jillian (Mukul) Dent, Sarah (Megan) Monson, Nathan (Riann) Dent, Christopher (Holly) Lichte, Daniel (Cassie) Monson, Matthew Lichte, Michael Lichte, and Andrew Bennett; eight great-grandchildren: Rex and Violet Powers; Maya Monson; Austin, Abigail, and Andrew Bucher; Forrest Dent-Sharma; and Rylee Lichte; and many relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Rachel Dent; her sister, Norma Maschmeier; two brothers, Oscar Hoffman and Omar Hoffman; and a daughter-in-law, Destiny Lichte.
