Evelyn June (King) Wood, 96, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Westwood Living Center in Clinton, MO.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the Odessa Restoration Branch, 6783 MO-131, Odessa, MO, 64076. A funeral service will be held at 11: 00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at the Greenton Cemetery in Odessa, MO. Memorials are suggested to the Odessa Restoration Branch or Golden Valley Hospice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd Street, Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Evelyn was born on March 6, 1924 in Kansas City, MO to Fred Douglas, Sr. and Genevieve Josephine (Theuerkauf) King. She graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in El Dorado Springs, MO in 1942. On July 20, 1944 Evelyn was united in marriage to Maurice Lavern Wood. He preceded her in death. She worked as a cook for several restaurants throughout the years. She was a member of the Odessa Restoration Branch and was the church recorder. As a child, she taught herself to play piano by reading an encyclopedia. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Evelyn enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, cooking, and canning.

Survivors include five children, Freddie Wood and wife, Jean of Plattsburg, MO, Kenneth Wood and wife, Terri of Independence, MO, Lyle Wood and wife, Margaret of Muskegon, MI, Karen Blair and husband, Robert of Clinton, MO, and Glen Wood and wife, Connie of Springfield, MO; a sister, Carol Hawkins and husband, Howard of Kansas City, MO; a sister in law, Dusty King, of Liberty, MO; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by a son, Gary Dale Wood, in infancy; two brothers, Carl and Fred King, Jr; and two sisters, Juanita Garnett and Mary Jane Garber.
