Douglas Morris Cox

Douglas Morris Cox unexpectedly departed this world on Friday, May 1, 2020. The son of Morris Belt and Patricia Lauer Cox, he was born on December 9, 1954. He was raised in the Presbyterian Church.
Doug grew up in Lexington and attended the Lexington Public Schools. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Edgar Fleming Cox, Doug then enrolled for high school at Wentworth Military Academy, graduating in 1976. He also later attended Lex-LaRay Vocational School to study computer science. For a period in the late 1970’s, Doug managed the family department store, Cox’s Corner. He always had a great interest in popular music and computers.
Doug was predeceased by his parents and grandparents, Harry and Hazel Lauer and Edgar F. and Theodocia Morris Cox, and his sister, Harriet Elizabeth Cox. Surviving Doug are his two nieces and their children: Anastasia Elise Brock, and her children, Landon Meierer, Chloe Huffman, Adalynn and Neveah Robinson; and Elizabeth Ann Brock McTaggart and her husband Corey, and their children, Colton and Calvin McTaggart. He also is survived by his cousins, Fredrick M. Tempel and his wife Abigail, Ward Gabeline and his wife, Treena, and their two sons, Nick and Jeff Gabeline. Additional cousins surviving Doug are the children of the late Ed Cox, Jr. and Kathleen Cox: Daniel Cox, Laura Beth Cox Emery, Andrew Cox, Ben Cox, Melissa Cox Underhill, Amy Cox Whaley, Matthew Cox, and their respective children, as well as his close friend, Danny Eaton and his extended family.
A public visitation for Doug will be 10:00 am, May 9, 2020, Saturday, at the Presbyterian Disciples Church in Lexington, Missouri, followed by a service at 11:00 am. Per CDC and City of Lexington guidelines, no hugging, shaking hands and please maintain a six feet distance during visitation and the service. Burial will be at Machpelah-Memorial Park Cemetery, Lexington, Missouri. Arrangements are being handled by the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 South Street, Lexington, Missouri, 64067, 660-259-2245.
