Dorothy Claire (Anderson) Douthit

Dorothy Claire (Anderson) Douthit, 93, formerly of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Villa Maria Care Center in Mulvane, KS.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odessa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Dorothy was born on September 10, 1925 in Kansas City, Kansas to Harold Anderson, Sr. and Thera (Callen) Anderson. After graduating from Odessa High School in 1943, she then attended Central Business College in Kansas City, Missouri. On May 17, 1947 Dorothy was united in marriage to Merle Douthit in Olathe, KS. He preceded her in death in 1994. Dorothy was a homemaker. She was a member of the Democrat Committee for Lafayette County, Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and was also a volunteer for the Odessa Community Service Center. In addition to serving her community, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include two children, James Douthit and wife Demarius of San Antonio, TX, Patty Howerton and husband Lonnie of Derby, KS; nine grandchildren, Amiee Douthit, Jennifer Bailey, Sarah Groth, Emily Barentine, Michelle Reeves, Jaimi Douthit, Lorin Douthit, Lori Johnson and Steve Johnson; sixteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a sister, Shirley Rail of Albuquerque, NM; two sister-in-law’s, Ida Anderson of Odessa, MO and Melba Hosmer of Marshfield, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son Michael Douthit, a grandson, Todd Douthit, a brother, Harold Anderson, Jr., sister-in-law, Dorothy Anderson, and a brother-in-law, Richard Rail.
