Doris Martin Bradley, 93, of Lexington, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Doris had been a resident of Meramec Bluffs Nursing Care Center, Ballwin, for the past seven years. Doris was born March 24, 1926, in Odessa, the daughter of the late Dr. W.E. Martin and Ravina Martin. Doris was united in marriage on July 21, 1946, at the Odessa Presbyterian Church to Newton Richard Bradley who preceded her in death on April 8, 2012. Doris graduated from the University of Missouri Columbia with a degree in business accounting. She worked part-time as a bookkeeper for Bradley and Bradley, Attorneys (formerly Bradley, Skelton and Schelp) and also was the farm manager of Martin Farms of Odessa. Doris was a full time stay at home mother raising her children. Doris Bradley received the Missouri Mother of the Year Award by Governor Kit Bond in 1973 by the Missouri Mother’s Association. She enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, cooking and was an avid bridge player. She played bridge for many years. But most of all, she cherished her time with family. She also enjoyed following the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Royals, Missouri Tigers and UCM Mules Football. Doris was a woman of Christian faith where she was a member of the First Christian Church of Lexington-Disciples of Christ. She later attended the Meramec Lutheran Church at her nursing facility in Ballwin. Doris was also a volunteer for Lexington civil organizations including the Lafayette Regional Health Center Auxiliary-PEO Sisterhood and PEO Educational Committees. Survivors include her two children, Gary (Pamela) Bradley, Blue Springs and Janet (John) Tubbesing, St. Louis; four grandchildren, Angela Plattner, Rev. Brad Tubbesing, Douglas Bradley and Julie Wilson; ten great-grandchildren include Ava Plattner, Jay Plattner, Eliza Tubbesing, Adelaide Tubbesing, Jane Tubbesing, J.R. Tubbesing, Greta Bradley, Ingrid Bradley, Skye Wilson and Tristan Wilson; one brother, Dr. Joseph (Kathy) Martin, Oklahoma City. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Newton Bradley; a sister, Joyce Bradfield; a brother, Dale Martin; two brothers-in-law, James Bradley and Irvin Bradley; and one sister-in-law, JoAnn Paul. Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019, at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home in Lexington with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Memorials are suggested to the Lexington PEO Chapter in c/o of Sherri Thomas, Lakeview Drive, Lexington, Missouri.
