Colleen Ann Wieligman, 80, of Wellington, Missouri passed away while surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri.

Colleen Grechus was born on December 15, 1941, to William F. and Carrie Grechus of Lexington. She graduated from Wellington-Napoleon High School in 1959. On April 23, 1960, Colleen was united in marriage to Wayne Wieligman. They were fortunate enough to happily spend 54 years together before Wayne’s death in 2014. During their married life, Wayne and Colleen enjoyed singing, dancing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

The majority of Colleen’s adult life was spent raising children and working on the farm. She and Wayne were the proud parents of four children and spouses: Bradley and Jamie Wieligman, Curtis and Jackie Wieligman, Jan and Randy Florence, and Amy and Tom Legate, all of Wellington. Colleen was extremely proud of her grandchildren as well: Dalton, Clayton, Breanna, Destie, and Hannah Wieligman, Victoria and Nathaniel Florence, and Austin Legate. Family was everything to Colleen.

Colleen possessed the God-given gift of being a talented pianist. At the age of 8, she began playing the piano for church services. In addition to playing for various services and events, Colleen began playing the piano for the Gospel Lovin’ Four in 1974. She went on the play for this group for almost 30 years. Her passion and enthusiasm for music was evident every time she sat down to play. She spent many years playing the piano at St. Luke Evangelical Church and the Journey of Faith Ministries.

Colleen is survived by her children and grandchildren, two sisters, Esther Baier of Victoria, Texas, and Martha Pyle of Grain Valley, Missouri, and one brother, Timothy Johnson of San Antonio, Texas. She also leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; her parents, William F. Grechus, and Carrie and Rufus Johnson; her in-laws, Ray and Elsie Wieligman; and siblings, Mary Lee Redden, Vicky Seitz Bitzer, Ann Graham, Darryl Grechus, and Jesse Johnson.

Colleen was a member of the St. Luke Evangelical Church in Wellington, Missouri, and attended Journey of Faith Ministries.
