Claude Wells Boyle, 87 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at home.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, 301 S. 1st St., Odessa, MO, 64076. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church. Claude was born on June 2, 1932 in Independence, MO to Emmette Rodger and Kathryn (Wells) Boyle. He graduated in 1950 from Odessa High School then attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. On November 24, 1962 he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth (Wallis) Boyle in Kansas City, MO. Claude began his career raising black angus cattle in Chapel Hill. He then worked for Reich Mushrooms in Kansas City and Odessa, United Transport and for the last 25 years of his working life he worked for Daniels McCray Lumber Co. in Kansas City, KS as a truck driver. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Odessa, the Teamsters Local 541 in Kansas City and the Sports Car Club of KC. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Claude enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
Claude is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Boyle of Odessa, MO; three sons, James Michael Boyle and wife Lyric, and Brian Wallis Boyle both of Odessa, MO and Kevin Claude Boyle and wife Rosemary of Winterset, IA; eleven grandchildren, Logan Boyle of Arkansas, Riley Boyle of Kansas City, Keegan Boyle of Odessa, Grace Boyle of Maryville, Carson and Olivia Boyle of Winterset, IA, Sloane and Carter Poindexter of Overland Park, KS, Brynn, River and Sawyer Boyle all of Odessa; one sister, Kathryn Jean Boyle of Springfield, VA; two sisters-in-law, Naomi Boyle of El Dorado Springs, MO and Sydney Wallis Backstrom of Prairie Village, KS; seven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews and some very special friends.
In addition to his parents, Claude was preceded in death by a brother, E. Rodger Boyle; and a brother-in-law, Commander John Raymond.
